For the first time, Tourism Australia welcomes more than 400,000 visitors from India.

In January 2024, Australia hosted 26,200 visitors from India, surpassing pre-pandemic levels in 2019 by 106%. This increase in Indian tourists is credited to focused marketing efforts, a simplified digital visa application system, and improved air travel connectivity between the two nations. The rise in Indian arrivals underscores Australia's enduring allure as a premier destination, signaling ongoing growth and mutual advantages for both countries' tourism industries.

According to the latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), arrivals from India for the year ending January 2024 totaled 402,200, exceeding 101% of 2019 levels. This achievement represents the first instance where Tourism Australia has recorded over 400,000 arrivals from India, establishing India as the 5th largest inbound market for Australian tourism in 2024, a substantial rise from its 7th position in 2019.
